GatherNYC is a revolutionary weekly concert experience, founded in 2017 by cellist Laura Metcalf and guitarist Rupert Boyd. Held on Sunday afternoons at the Morris-Jumel Mansion, GatherNYC evokes the community and spiritual nourishment of a religious service, but the religion here is music, and all are welcome. Guests are served exquisite live classical music by New York’s most celebrated artists, a taste of the spoken word, and a brief celebration of silence. The entire experience lasts one hour. In these unsettling and isolating times, GatherNYC provides a safe place to fortify beauty, peace and togetherness.
Morris-Jumel Mansion is the oldest surviving house in Manhattan. Situated in beautiful Roger Morris Park, the museum regularly hosts outdoor summer concerts and other events designed to bring our community together to enjoy nature, the arts, and our shared history. We are pleased to partner with GatherNYC this year to share these unique performances with our neighbors and fellow music-lovers. This series will be held over five weeks from May 23 - June 20, 2021. (In case of inclement weather, a future rain date will be announced.)
Health and Safety Guidelines
All concert-goers over the age of two are required to remain masked and socially distanced from one another during the performance, regardless of prior vaccination status, as per current NYC Parks and Morris-Jumel Mansion programming guidelines. Advanced registration for this event is required. Since attendees will be close to the performers, and may need to enter the Mansion to use restroom facilities, audience members will need fill out a health screening form which will be emailed the day before the concert. This form will need to be completed prior to every performance; no exceptions.
